Members of the AARA participate in public service and emergency communications activities and training as part of the responsibility of holding a federally issued license to use the airwaves. Events include providing communications for various foot and bicycling races, walks, parades, weather spotting for the National Weather Service, supporting activities of local governments and the American Red Cross. Beside activities that are sponsored directly by the AARA, members join with other groups to provide there services including some of the following:
